I’d like to propose a toast – no, not that kind of toast, ACTUAL toast! This kawaii buttered toast ornament is cute, unique, and easy to make! It would make a one-of-a-kind addition to any Christmas tree this holiday season. This crochet pattern is so quick that you can make a whole bunch for you and everyone on your gift list!

It’s not every day you see something as ordinary as bread or toast being celebrated, but let’s face it – it’s a staple for so many meals! Sandwiches, toast, french toast, and even croutons – the list goes on and on! The fun isn’t limited to traditional bread, either – those who enjoy different kinds of bread, such as gluten-free, can appreciate the sight of a tiny, cute little toast like this one.

Pin it for later!

This tiny toast not only makes a great ornament, but would also be an adorable DIY keychain or play food accessory. As an ornament, it goes so well with other food-themed ornaments in my 12 Weeks of Christmas event, such as The Good Tidings Taco and The North Pole Popcorn!

The yarns I used for this project are great staple yarns for all kinds of projects, including amigurumi! Red Heart With Love in Tan (on Amazon HERE!) is just the right color for the bread portion of the toast, since it’s not too beige but not too dark brown, either. It also happens to be the same color I used for the crust/cuff in my Pizza Slouchy Hat – go figure! I guess it’s a great carbohydrate color!

I used another great shade for the bread crust, Red Heart Super Saver in Cafe Latte. This yarn has been a stash favorite of mine for years – Super Saver is real life saver! This shade works so well for medium brown projects such as this toast, gingerbread boys and girls, etc. Find it on Amazon HERE!

I wanted to make sure this was a pattern you could work up quickly so that you can move on to all your other holiday crochet, crafts, shopping, baking, etc. Since it only measures a few inches and uses some basic stitches, you can rest assured that it’s a quick and easy project! To top it off, there’s even a tiny pad of butter included in the instructions – it doesn’t get much cuter!

So who’s ready to start a project that’s the best thing since sliced bread? Well, it quite literally is a sliced bread….but you know what I mean! Let’s go!

Sc through Edgings of both Toasts around entire piece, making 2 sc in each corner, and making a sl st through both Toasts where sl sts from Edging (at Row 9) are placed. Fasten off.
