Spring has sprung (almost!), which means it’s time to start wearing light weight, colorful crochet creations! As the weather warms up, we can put away the bulky mittens for now and bring out the lacy fingerless gloves instead! These fingerless gloves are made with an open and incredibly easy stitch called the V stitch, giving them a beautiful texture that’s perfect for spring!

Pin it for later!

I recently visited a delightful yarn shop near me called The Spinning Room in search of a Japanese yarn that I’ve been on the lookout for for a while. If you’re ever in the upstate NY area, I highly recommend visiting this yarn store! The yarns are gorgeous, the staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and there are all kinds of fun events going on at the store.

The yarn I was looking for is called Noro – it’s a beautiful blend of silk, wool, and mohair! I had originally planned to get some while visiting Japan last year (read about my trip here!) but didn’t get a chance to. Fortunately, I found some of this beautiful yarn in perfect spring colors during my visit to The Spinning Room! (Fun fact: the bamboo hook that can be seen in the instruction photos in the pattern is also from The Spinning Room!)

If you have a store that specializes in fine yarns near you, then they might have some of this lovely yarn! If not, you can find some on Amazon HERE!

The great thing about this yarn is that it only takes one skein to make these gloves. The yarn is medium weight and on the fairly thick side for a medium weight yarn, so the gloves work up very quickly! If you’d rather use another medium weight yarn, though, you can still make some gorgeous gloves. Just be sure to check your gauge so they come out the right size!

These gloves are just enough to keep your hands warm on those early spring days without being too warm. The V stitch keeps the texture of the glove open and airy, and the ribbed-look cuff is thick enough to keep your wrists warm! All that, and your fingers are still free for texting, typing, writing, drawing, and more!

Let’s not wait another minute to start crocheting this fun, fast, fingerless mitts!

Notes
This pattern uses the V Stitch. It is comprised of a combination of double crochet, chain 1, and double crochet all into the same stitch.
This pattern also uses the front and back post double crochet stitches. Back post double crochet means to insert your hook around the post of a double crochet stitch from the previous row and push it to the back of your work. Front post pushes the post to the front.
