Sprinkle some fun onto your holiday season with these adorable amigurumi donut ornaments! They are cute, unique, and easy to make! And they’re sure to be a hit with anyone who loves donuts or sweets. What a great gift idea!

Why make something like donuts for your tree? Well, this time of year is all about the sweets, and let’s face it – a donut is basically a breakfast cupcake! Donuts are a fun and yummy way to bring people together – they’re sort of like a pizza that you can also get away with for breakfast. (I’m seeing a theme here!) It’s the reason why they’re an office staple – easy to grab for takeout, small enough so you can have two (or three), and a great sugar rush!

Pin it for later!

As you may know from checking out my other 12 Weeks of Christmas patterns, I really wanted to holiday-ize some foods that you don’t often think of as Christmas foods in this series. Why stick to gingerbread and peppermints alone? There’s plenty of ways to customize these cute little donuts to look Christmas-y!

One of the features that I think really brings out the cuteness in these little pastries is the large kawaii eyes. I used a slightly larger size of safety eye than I usually would for a project this size, and the results were cuteness overload!!!! You can find some safety eyes in the size I used (12 mm) on Amazon HERE!

The donuts are very fun, fast, and easy to make. So why not make a whole dozen?! How fun would it be to make a little donut tree for someone you know who can’t resist donuts?? Or, just make a whole bunch for a regular holiday tree! They’re very versatile and can be used as ornaments, play food, or decor. The possibilities are endless!

So what are we waiting for? “Time to make the donuts!!!” (You just know I couldn’t resist!!!!!!!!! Also, young’ens will not understand that reference!!!)

Rnd 2 – Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around. Join with sl st to first sc (24 sc)

Rnds 12 – 19 – Rep Rnds 4 – 11 but do not make a color change in last st of last rnd. (48 sc)

Rnd 20 – Ch 1, sc2tog in each st around. (24 sc)

Rnd 21 – Rep Rnd 20. (12 sc)
Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing.

Finishing
Attach safety eyes near Rnd 15. With Black, make a small “v” between eyes for Smile. With Pink, make a small horiztonal line underneath each Eye for Blush. With Scarlet and Fern, sew several small lines around for Sprinkles (lines look best when they are made around just one sc st at a time). Weave in ends or tie off on inside of Donut.

Press edges of Donut together at inner center and sew together; bring needle back to front after sewing each st, so that each st is sewn from front to back. Stuff piece progressively as you are sewing the piece.

Weave in all ends.

Here are the finished Donuts!
