If you want to crochet the cutest and fastest chickens and roosters for your amigurumi collection, then this pattern mod is for you! This pattern mod includes the comb and giblets instructions, and It’s sure to help you create a whole farm of these little cuties! What an ideal make for craft fair and market sellers, and/or for those looking to make the cutest little rustic animal gift or toy. The possibilities are endless!

Chicken / Rooster Mod

Friendly reminder! This is a pattern mod to my Sweet Spring Birds crochet pattern – so you’ll need to make that first in order to have a whole chicken or rooster! Then come back here to get the comb/giblets instructions!

Supplies

“Sweet Spring Birds” Crochet Pattern (use Premier Just Chenille in White for Body)

Size 7 / 4.5 mm crochet hook

Premier Dream Chenille in Strawberry (medium weight) – about 5 yds

Yarn Needle

Scissors

Abbreviations

*= indicates beginning/end of a section to be repeated

Ch = chain

Dc = double crochet

Rep = repeat

Sl St = slip stitch

St(s) = stitch(es)

Gauge

Exact Gauge is not essential to this pattern.

How to Make This

Instructions

Comb

Row 1 – Ch 8.  2 dc in 3rd ch from hook. sl st in same st, sl st in next st (first photo below).  *In next st, 2 dc, sl st.  Sl st in next st.*  Rep from * to * one more time.  (6 dc)

Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing (second photo below shows finished piece.)

Giblets

Row 1 – *Ch 4.  Sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each st across.*  Rep from * to *.  Sl st to first ch of first giblet.

Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing.

Assembly

Sew Comb to top of head; sew Giblets underneath Beak.  Tie off knots and hide inside sts.

Here is the finished chicken / rooster!
