This pattern mod includes the comb and giblets instructions, and It’s sure to help you create a whole farm of these little cuties! Chicken / Rooster Mod

Friendly reminder! This is a pattern mod to my Sweet Spring Birds crochet pattern – so you’ll need to make that first in order to have a whole chicken or rooster! Then come back here to get the comb/giblets instructions!

Supplies

“Sweet Spring Birds” Crochet Pattern (use Premier Just Chenille in White for Body)

Size 7 / 4.5 mm crochet hook

Premier Dream Chenille in Strawberry (medium weight) – about 5 yds

Yarn Needle

Scissors

Abbreviations

*= indicates beginning/end of a section to be repeated

Ch = chain

Dc = double crochet

Rep = repeat

Sl St = slip stitch

St(s) = stitch(es)

Gauge

Exact Gauge is not essential to this pattern.

How to Make This

Instructions

Comb

Row 1 – Ch 8.  2 dc in 3^rd ch from hook. sl st in same st, sl st in next st (first photo below).  *In next st, 2 dc, sl st.  Sl st in next st.*  Rep from * to * one more time.  (6 dc)

Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing (second photo below shows finished piece.)

Giblets

Row 1 – *Ch 4.  Sl st in 2^nd ch from hook and in each st across.*  Rep from * to *.  Sl st to first ch of first giblet.

Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing.

Assembly

Sew Comb to top of head; sew Giblets underneath Beak.  Tie off knots and hide inside sts.

Here is the finished chicken / rooster!
