Frog Hooded Blanket – Crochet Pattern
Hop into this fun, cute, crochet pattern – it’s the perfect gift for any frog lover! Made using chunky yarn, the pattern works up quickly and is incredibly warm and cozy. To top it off, the hood of the blanket has big frog eyes and some bashful blush – so this is the perfect combination of amigurumi and a cozy blanket!
I have made lots of amigurumi frogs in the past in the form of plushies, baby booties, hats, etc. and I have always loved the simple yet sweet design of a classic cartoon frog! The eyes and blush are easy to form, and the combination of colors of pink and green really make the piece stand out.
(Pin it for later!)
So when I was trying to come up with some fun ideas for hooded blankets, you can bet that a frog design was at the top of my list!
I knew I wanted to make this a chunky blanket, much like my Shark Hooded Blanket. I managed to find a gorgeous shade of green in one of my favorite yarn lines, Hometown USA by Lion Brand! Oklahoma City Green (on Amazon HERE!) is such a great light green color – it’s neutral enough to be easy on the eyes, but not so muted that it doesn’t still have a fun, bright look. Providence Pink (on Amazon HERE!) is the perfect accent to it! It’s a cheery pastel pink that really makes the whole blanket pop.
Are some of your friends and family who love frogs already coming to mind as you read this? Awesome!!! This pattern is one size fits most for teens and adults, but you can easily adjust it to fit kids, as well. The pattern includes details on how to adjust certain rows so that the blanket and hood contain less length.
Who’s ready to get cozied up in their Lily Pad and get started on this pattern? I know I am! Let’s go!

Finishing
With Oklahoma City Green on yarn needle, place one edge of hood about 15 sts in from edge of Blanket and sew Hood across top edge of Blanket.
Attach Providence Pink anywhere on Blanket (photo shows it attached where Hood and Blanket are sewn together). Ch 1, sc evenly around entire piece (making about 1 sc per row on sides of Blanket and Hood). Fasten off.
Sew each Eye to top of hood, close to front edge, about 1-2 sts apart. To help Eyes stand up properly when blanket is worn, sew eyes together so that they are one piece. Sew Blush underneath each Eye. Weave in all ends.
Here is the finished blanket!
