This jolly jellyfish is soft, cute, and easy to make! It’s the perfect end of summer project for amigurumi fans. It’s a fun toy for play or display any time of year, but I like to think of it as one last hurrah when it comes to beach themed crochet projects!

The shape of the jellyfish is pretty simple, and the curling that takes place on the tentacles gives it an authentic aquatic look! Of course, it wouldn’t be a Crafty Kitty Crochet project if it didn’t have a kawaii little face with sparkly eyes and blush! I believe that little details like these really bring a crocheted character to life – and they’re fun details to customize and make your own, too!

(Pin it for later!)

You may remember that one of my very first crochet patterns on this blog was my Kawaii Octopus. I love the way that these tiny little critters were just that – tiny and fun to hold in the palm of your hand! But I also love large stuffed animals that stand out and are snuggly! That’s one of the great things about this jellyfish – it’s sized to be just right as a toy or for display.

This jellyfish is made using incredibly soft Bernat Blanket yarn in the colorway Ocean Shades. The variegated blues, greens, and purples in this yarn are perfect for an oceanic critter like this jellyfish! I love the colors, the uniquely soft texture, and the large weight of this yarn. Due to its chunky nature, the jellyfish works up quickly and is a nice size – not too small, not too big, and just the right size for snuggling! You can find some of this lovely yarn on Amazon HERE!

Feel free to get creative with accessorizing your jellyfish, too! How cute would it be to add eyelashes, a bow, or even a little mustache?! The possibilities are endless!

Ready to dive into this fun pattern? Then let’s go!

[…] The pandemic has altered my life dramatically as I am sure it has for many people. I miss seeing my family and friends. I miss being able to just go somewhere, despite how much of a hermit I can be. The last few months have been an adjustment to say the least. I don’t have much to look forward to aside from trips to Michael’s and Dunkin Donuts. This past week my mom came to visit. We sat outside the whole day (something else we can’t do much longer thanks to New England weather). My mom and I bond over crocheting all the time. We thought it would be fun to have a crochet along. We chose a jellyfish to crochet.
