Amigurumi Little Lamb Crochet Pattern
Spring has sprung, and in terms of animals that represent spring, lambs are right up there with chicks and bunnies! This little lamb is a unique and fun amigurumi project that would make the perfect addition to any Easter basket. It’s also great for home decor, baby showers, or as a children’s toy!
(Pin it for later!)
This fluffy little lamb is incredibly unique due to the yarn used to make it – it is a specialty pom pom yarn that has a wonderful soft texture unlike any other yarn I’ve worked with! Red Heart Pomp-A-Doodle is an old favorite of mine. There is yarn in between each pom pom – so when you’re done stitching, all you see is the pom poms! You can find some of this awesome yarn on Amazon HERE !
You can even make lambs in different colors with this yarn – look at these lovely pink and mint green colors!!!
There’s a funny story behind my use of this yarn! Years ago after I started my first online store, I was in a time crunch making and shipping last minute holiday orders. One of them was for a fluffy sheep like the one seen here. As I used up the last few stitches of my current skein of Pomp-A-Doodle, I gave my husband instructions on how to go get some more for me at the yarn store. Well, unbeknownst to either of us, Pomp-A-Doodle had been discontinued at that time. My husband went from craft store to craft store, searching for it to no avail, and asking associates for help finding it. He finally decided to turn around and come home after one associate burst out laughing when he stated the unusual name of the yarn, “Pomp-A-Doodle”! Poor hubs! The life of a crafter’s spouse is not an easy one! Thankfully, Red Heart decided to reintroduce this yarn a little while ago – so it’s a lot easier to find now!
This lamb works up very quickly once you get the hang of working with the Pomp-A-Doodle. Due to its large size, the body of the lamb doesn’t require many stitches at all, and the beige parts of the lamb (made using regular worsted weight yarn) are very simple to make. So feel free to make a whole herd of sheep in one sitting if you please!

With Strawberry, make small horizontal line in bottom outer corner of each eye for Blush.
Line ears up with Eyes and sew to the sides of the Head.
Stuff Feet and sew to bottom of Body. Weave in all ends (or hide tied off ends in sts).

Hey- I’m curious, could I make the lamb with bernat baby blanket yarn instead of the pom-pom yarn? I love the pom-pom yarn, but have a stockpile of bernat yarn and want to know if it will be just as cute.

Hey Dahlia! You totally could! The blanket yarn might not be as thick as the pom pom yarn, so if you notice the body isn’t the correct size you want it to be, you might just want to add another increase round and a few more regular rounds to the body!! It would be totally cute though 🙂 ~ Melissa
